CATALYTIC
CONVERSATIONS

THURSDAY

CATALYTIC CONVERSATIONS - WORKSHOP 1

10:15-11:00AM

These conversations are designed to dive into how we reorient faith communities around relational discipleship radically focused on Jesus. The partners leading these conversations are engaged in work connected to the conversation and will set up the conversation with fresh, unique insights from their vantage point in the Christian ecosystem.

  • Rooms: #209 & 210 | Facilitator: Jake Mulder & Virginia Ward

Imagine what would happen if entire faith communities prioritized the faith of the next generation. What if their budgets, values, staff, congregants, and culture reflected the importance of passing along a healthy faith to young people? In this catalytic conversation, you’ll learn ways to start transforming the faith community you lead or are a part of to prioritize the faith and future of the next generation.

  • Room: #207 | Facilitators: Marcia Lane-McGee & Carlos Piñera

This is an active generation! They are quick to serve and get involved with justice work. Join this conversation to catalyze practical ways to ground and connect what young people care about with the example of justice and service Jesus set for all of us.

  • Room: #208 | Facilitators: Paula Danielle & Robert Feduccia

Families are one of the most discussed topics when it comes to young people and faith. We often have conflicting views about parents and families, truly not knowing how or if we can engage them. And yet, we know they are some of the most influential people in a young person's life. Join this conversation to challenge our attitudes and assumptions to catalyze action!

  • Room: #213 | Facilitators: Chuck Hunt & Shannon Schmidt

Every seat in an organization or ministry has the potential to effect change. In this conversation, you’ll learn a model for leading change and discuss practical ways that your unique role can catalyze significant progress for the future of the church.

  • Room: #211 | Facilitators: Adam Donner & Monica Chan

Relational discipleship radically focused on Jesus can look very different depending on your context. The Faith Formation Framework helps us create a holistic environment to experience that discipleship. It was developed contextually, and applying it contextually will take intentionality! Join this conversation to catalyze implementing the Framework in your context.

  • Room: #212 | Facilitators: Lori Ruffin & Jason Miller-Villegas

What is the TENx10 movement? How do we plan to make faith matter more to 10 MILLION young people? Come learn about what’s at stake and what we hope to do about it, together! From a small table of leaders to a nationwide movement, together we’ll talk about how you can join the movement of making faith matter more to young people.

CATALYTIC CONVERSATIONS - WORKSHOP 2

11:15AM-12:00PM

These conversations are designed to dive into how we reorient faith communities around relational discipleship radically focused on Jesus. The partners leading these conversations are engaged in work connected to the conversation and will set up the conversation with fresh, unique insights from their vantage point in the Christian ecosystem.

  • Room: #207 | Facilitators: Ebonie Davis & Chris Wesley

We know spiritual practices help young people internalize and own their faith. Join this conversation to catalyze practical ways to incorporate spiritual practices into existing programs and rhythms, in any type of ministry context.

  • Rooms: #209 & 210 | Facilitators: Kara Powell & Bobby Lopez

We’ve likely all heard something like, “faith is caught, not taught.” The truth is, modeling faith may be the most important example an adult can set for a young person. So, when we talk about sharing faith, we have to call adults into more than just talking about faith. While that can feel like a daunting ask, it’s actually quite simple! Join this conversation to catalyze yourself and the adults in your faith community to share their faith with the next generation.

CATALYTIC CONVERSATIONS - WORKSHOP 3

2:45-3:30PM

These conversations are designed to dive into the issues most impacting young people and the church in America. The partners leading these conversations are engaged in work connected to the conversation and will set up the conversation with fresh, unique insights from their vantage point in the Christian ecosystem.

  • Room: #208 | Facilitators: Future of Faith (Josh Packard), Barna (Joe Jensen) & FYI (Kara Powell)

As culture and generations shift, it's important to keep up with the latest insights. Join top national researchers for a data-driven conversation about what they’re learning.

  • Rooms: #209 & 210 | Facilitators: Hannah Gronowski Barnett, Jordan Francis & Lisa Fields

Join culture watchers to discuss the trends impacting the US landscape and what that means for the church and young people.

  • Room: #213 | Facilitators: Yonathan Moya, Sandra Van Opstal, Latasha Morrison (Be the Bridge), Phebe Meyer (Center for Christianity & Public Life)

There are significant systemic issues impacting the life and faith of young people. Join those on the front lines witnessing the impact and pursuing justice with and for the next generation.

  • Room: #211 | Facilitators: Paula Danielle & Tange Johnson

As we work hard to care about ‘the other’, whether racially, culturally, ecumenically, socio-economically, join a conversation about what it means to center the marginalized. It is not just signaling you notice or care, but intentionally working to do as Jesus did and make the margins your center.

  • Room: #212 | Facilitators: Jason Miller-Villegas, Marcia Lane-McGee & Erik Cave

This generation is open-handed about a lot, including Jesus and denominations. Join those working across diverse theological lines about why and how the next generation is longing for and leading the way for an ecumenical church.

  • Room: #207 | Facilitators: Jose Rodriguez, Angel Maldonado, Abbigail Fraser, James Le & Cherish

Every generation has a new lexicon, new music, new shows, new passions; they have a way they speak and move through the world that can seem foreign unless you get up close. Join young leaders and those on the front lines to get insights about the beauty of engaging Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

CATALYTIC CONVERSATIONS - WORKING GROUPS 4

3:45-4:30PM

Every leader at Summit has a unique vantage point of influence on the faith of the next generation. For this conversation and another one tomorrow am, we will move into “working groups” with leaders in your same sphere of influence to consider how we, together, can mobilize for impact. Yes, many of you may fit into more than 1 category, please select one and dive in. If you came with a teammate, perhaps divide and conquer. ;)
